As your Trade Association, M.C.A. has a strong voice in representing the interests of MCA Contractors and Affiliates at the municipal, provincial and federal decisions making levels.
Your MCA, through MCA Canada, has individuals that represent our industry on the C.S.A. and National Research Council, on the Plumbing Codes, B 149 Gas Codes, and Hydronic Heating Codes Committees. Provincially MCA has representation on the Safety Codes Council, ACSA, ACA the local and Provincial Apprenticeship Committees and many more.
You need to keep informed on what is happening in your industry. Regular information is provided through memos, newsletter & publications such as the annual Mechanical Plumbers & Piping Journal. Furthermore, valuable regular surveys are conducted on direct labour and overhead costs to help you price properly and stay in business.
MCA believes that its members want to know about new management techniques improved products and competitive practices. These are either MCA or affiliated Association sponsored seminars such as the Canadian Mechanical Contractors Education Foundation (CMCEF). MCA provides you information on our own or other upcoming seminars of importance to you.
Job Site Journals, Safety Manuals, Labour Calculators, are just some of the items needed for your workforce and are available through the MCA Alberta & MCA Canada.
MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS (NETWORKING):
Regular membership meetings provide opportunity to discuss industry and association business and meet your peers and suppliers and exchange ideas on and learn and enjoy the various speakers.
Every so often you need a change from all of your hard work. MCA membership allows you to participate in a provincial conference, curling bonspiel, golf tournament, old timers night and various other social events for both male and female.
The Association prides itself in making available to its members an excellent group insurance plan at very competitive rates. Most contractors and industry affiliated individuals join for this reason.
The Association constantly seeks valuable and acceptable discount programs to provide savings for our members. Our current program with Petro Canada allows for 2.7 cents per litre discount. The savings on this benefit alone often pays for the MCA membership.
Having trouble with your receivables? MCA will send a series of three letters to your past due accounts. It’s a member benefit at no cost to you – and it does often bring very favourable results.
To assist contractor members in providing an additional benefit to their apprentice employees in our trades, MCA provides a tuition fee subsidy.
The association participates in career and trade fairs to promote the trade and you as our members. You may use the MCA logo in your advertising.
You need insurance from someone who understands your business and your risks. Over 25 years MCA has promoted Federated Insurance to be that insurance company.
Your livelihood comes from the trade. You have an opportunity to strengthen the trade by participating on one of the many committees as a MCA representative or even on the MCA Board. (i.e. apprenticeship, safety , construction, etc.)
Minimum annual dues for each Alberta location with a maximum provincial fee of $900.00 plus GST.
